A selection of challenges for the reader using Scripture verses alone.


Are you foolish or wise?

Foolishness
"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God" (Psalm 14:1).

"He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool" (Proverbs 28:26).

The rich man in the parable of Jesus said to himself, "Take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry" but God said unto him "Fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee "(Luke 12:20).

"Fools make a mock at sin" (Proverbs 14:9).

Wisdom
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction" (Proverbs 1:7).

"The preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God" (1Cor 1:18).

"We preach Christ crucified, ... Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God" (1Cor 1:23,24).

"God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 6:8).


Are you saved?

"What must I do to be saved?" asked the Philippian jailor in Acts 16 and the apostles answered "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved".

Saved from what?
"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
"It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27).
"The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).

How does believing on Jesus save us?
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me" (John 14:6).
"Christ hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God" (1 Peter 3:18).

What does it mean, to believe on Jesus?
"Repent ye, and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15).
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
"If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Romans 10:9).
"By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9).

 

"Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near" (Isaiah 55:6).

"If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
